Thinning Hair for the Holidays
The holiday season is almost to a close and many of you have been working hard on getting the house in order, picking out everyone’s gifts, and even planning the party! Have you had a chance to think how you are going to style your hair? If you are like millions of women, then you could be stressed about your hair that has thin and how to style it. Below, are a few tips on how to style it or what you can do to make it look its best!
Side Chignon
Level of Difficulty: Moderate
Time: 10 minutes
Said to be the most popular hair style for the holiday season, the side chignon was shown in the fall/winter collection from Galia Lahav’s. It is a relatively easy style that can work with both thick and thin hair.
Let’s get started! Take your hair and create a low side ponytail, but leave about 3 inches of hair in front of the ponytail. Take your curling iron and use it to create soft waves to this section. Next, wrap this section around the base of the ponytail and using hair grips to secure it. To add some volume you can tease the ponytail with a comb, and finish it off by twisting it till the chignon that covers your ear. Use hair grips and hairspray to help keep it all in place. Here is a tutorial video on how to do it.
Poker-Straight Ponytail
Level of Difficulty: Easy
Time: 30 minutes
One of the most known poker-straight ponytail looks was worn by Dior on the runway this year. If you are experiencing thinning hair, then you will know that with a ponytail it can fall flat. To help it, you can use a double ponytail.
First, you will need to begin by straightening your hair till it is smooth. Next, part your hair in the desired spot and create two sections, an upper and lower section. Use the upper section and make it into a ponytail that sits lower than your ears and use a discreet hair tie to hold it in place. Now, using the lower section, make it into a second ponytail that is near the shape of your neck. The trick is to make sure the upper ponytail lays on top of the lower ponytail, which creates the look of one long and thick ponytail. Secure with a fancy hair tie or barrette.
Trendy Tousled Tresses
Level of Difficulty: Moderate
Time: 30 to 60 minutes
During Gucci’s fall/winter collection the look of loose curls was the trend. This look adds volume for those who have thinning hair and is retro looking hairdo.
To get this style wash your hair and blow dry it partially while your head is upside down. Start, by taking several section of hair and separate the. Roll each section loosely and using hair grips secure it. Before removing the clips dry each section completely and then take the clips out to let your hair unravel.
